![]() ![]() If one day we can resurrect people who sacrificed themselves for the good of others, it wouldn't in any way invalidate their sacrifices.Īnd while Roxas & Namine were resigned to their fate at the end of KH2, other characters, specifically Sora & Kairi weren't okay with taking away the lives of another individual. Especially if their only options at the time were to accept giving themselves up or to just simply die. And even though they were all saved in KH3, just because people get justice in life doesn't mean that their suffering and sacrifice retroactively don’t exist anymore. Their “deaths” all still mattered and had to be done. Roxas, Namine, Axel & Xion others all still needed to make the sacrifices they had to make in order to save Sora and the others. And how their sacrifices still hadn’t been for nothing. ![]() And games like Re:Coded & DDD elaborate on exactly why/how these characters need to be saved from the character's perspectives. So in that spirit of KH1, it always felt inevitable that these tragic characters introduced from COM & onwards were going to be rescued. But despite the sacrifices they made, they were all still able to be saved. Sora, Riku & Kairi in KH1 alone had all put their lives on the line to protect one another. The theme of saving people from a terrible fate has been a consistent theme since the very first game. I personally was both happy with them returning & also fully expected them to return one day mostly after I first completed Days back in 2009. ![]()
